Hand, foot, and mouth disease is common in children under five years old, but anyone can get it. The illness is usually not serious, but it is very contagious. It spreads quickly. Common symptoms can include fever and flu-like symptoms, mouth sores, and potentially a rash with red spots.
Currently, many districts in our area are seeing this occur, and we are asking all parents to keep their children home while they have these symptoms. Students are free to return to school after the symptoms subside. If your child has any of these symptoms, please keep your student home and connect with your student's school and teachers.
To help reduce the spread, hand-washing is the best remedy. Help your children learn good hand-washing routines of about twenty seconds or longer.
