The Morton/White Pass boys' basketball team will open their 2024-25 season with games against the Winlock Cardinals on Wednesday in Morton. The C-team game will begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by the junior varsity and varsity games.
The Intermediate school held a Kiss the Goat fundraiser on Friday. The money will go towards the Intermediate ASB which will be used for Husky-of-the-Day prizes, field trips, school activities, and more. They raised $274 with Miss Jaydin coming in first, Mr. Hannah in second, and Ms.Telders in third. Mr. Hannah also made a surprise donation for Mrs. Hanger to kiss the goat.
The Morton/White Pass boys won their first-ever district cross country championship on Saturday in Rainier beating six other teams. The Timberwolves have finished third three times since 2011 and held off Adna this season.
Junior Vanson Armstrong (17:11.41) and senior Hunter Brackett (17:11.86) ran side-by-side for much of the race finishing a half second apart, second and third respectively, behind Toledo’s Treyton Marty who won in 16:44. Noah Gilstrap placed fifth in 18:20 with Aiden Kampa getting eighth (18:32). Owen Loucks ran 16th overall (19:27), Jevan Austin 27th (20:07), and Braeden Lyon 45th (21:54).
In the girls' race, T-Wolves’ Gemma Jakubowski (25:38), and Isabella McCarthy (26:46) finished 24th and 30th.
The Morton/White Pass boys and girls all qualified for the 1B/2B State Cross Country meet and will run at Pasco’s Sun Willows Golf Course on Saturday. The 1B/2B girls will run at 9:30 a.m. with the 2B Boys to compete at 11:30 a.m.
The Morton/White Pass football team (5-4 overall, 3-3 league), seeded fourth in the Central 2B East division will travel to the Central 2B West’s top-seeded and 9th-ranked Napavine Tigers (7-2, 5-0) Friday evening in a crossover game. The winner will advance to the 16-team 2B state football tournament and the loser will be done for the season.
The Morton/White Pass volleyball team will travel to Forks on Saturday to play the Toutle Lake Ducks in their district tournament opener at 1 p.m. Win, and they'll play Forks at 4 p.m. and lose they are out.

Last week in Onalaska, the Morton/White Pass boys won the 2B Central League Cross Country Championship outpacing six other teams. The Timberwolves finished with 41 points edging Adna (83), Winlock (92), Three Rivers Christian (104), Rainier (116), Toledo (124), and Wahkiakum (128). The Timberwolves will compete at Rainier tomorrow in the 17-school District IV Championships. The girls will run at 11 a.m. with the boys to follow at noon.
Morton/White Pass (4-4 overall, 2-3 league) will travel to Mossyrock (2-6, 2-3) tonight for their final league game in their first meeting since 2017. The game begins at 7 p.m.
The Timberwolves (6-8 overall, 2-5 league) host the Toledo Riverhawks (5-10, 2-5) Wednesday evening at Morton in their regular season finale and Senior Night for 10 seniors. The district volleyball tournament will begin this Saturday at Adna and Forks.
