For today, December 17th, Morton School District will operate in a modified lock down for both buildings in reaction to a TikTok post being shared nationally calling for violence. In order to enter either building you will need to call the office prior to being let in. Staff spent extra time yesterday going over our protocols already in place for such potential actions. Also, our local Morton Police Department has been involved in our process from the start and will be a presence in town and at the school throughout the day - thank you Chief Morningstar and your officers. Many of you have seen the District's buses and fleet parked at the Jr/Sr HS beginning on Monday morning. This is due to our departure from the Bus Garage the district has been using along Highway 7. On Friday evening after a review of facilities assessment of the site the District was informed that they need to begin exiting the building and no longer use it due to the hazardous conditions the building has for the safety of our staff. Moving forward the District will seek out solutions for parking, maintenance, and office areas for our Transportation staff. Current parking will be at the Jr/Sr HS and George Harbaugh will be using an office at the Jr/Sr HS for the immediate future. We will be looking for a site to allow for maintenance of our buses and fleet moving forward until a permanent solution is determined.

Reminder to all in the Morton School District community that there will be no school on Thursday, 11/11, for Veteran's Day. School will resume on Friday 11/12.
