Today at 2:30 PM Gov. Inslee spoke about a COVID testing program which is being expanded from 13 districts to 63. Of the additional 50 districts as part of this program, Morton is one these districts. In the near future we will be able to provide COVID testing for staff, students, and potentially family members of both groups. More information will be coming out in the next few weeks as we prepare for the launch of this program. Participation in the program by both students and staff is purely optional, but it provides an additional level of assistance for everyone as members of our school community.

Based on recent COVID cases and close contacts within our elementary school, and following the guidelines set forth by OSPI and DOH we will temporarily transition to remote learning in grades PK-6 for the next two weeks. Students and staff who are close contacts are being notified.
For February 1st and 2nd elementary courses will mostly be conducted through Canvas. Students will need to log in to their Canvas accounts to find assignments for them to complete. Staff will be reaching out to students in multiple ways on specifics to their classes and potential remote class sessions that may occur. Primary grades will be contacted by their classroom teacher for their assigned work.
From February 1st through February 12th the elementary school will remain in remote learning in grades preschool through sixth grade.
Beginning with 3rd-quarter our Wednesday schedule for Jr/Sr High students will change. Jr/Sr High Students who are at risk of failing will be asked to attend school on-site beginning on 2/3/2021. While on-site, they will work with a number of staff members to make-up missing work and address their grades. Attendance on these Wednesdays is not optional. Only those who attend during A/B schedules are being considered for coming in on Wednesdays. All other students should use this day to continue to work on assignments at home, connect with staff via email, and continue to earn the best grades possible. There will be no additional assignments added to Canvas on Wednesdays. Life Skills students who normally attend on Wednesdays will continue to attend as their schedule is not affected by this change. This change is specific to the Jr/Sr High School only.
On Monday our region goes to Phase 2, which means we will begin athletic practices on Monday too. Athletes, make sure to have your physicals completed and turned in. Here is a link to our physical form: https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/986709/WIAA_Physical_Form.pdf
